I believe I know most of you in this email, however I wanted to reach out and introduce myself to all parents and give you a bit of an update on where things currently stand with Jamboree (U8) softball. My name is Troy Byrt and I am your Olds Minor Softball Assoc. Jamboree/U8 Coordinator for the upcoming softball season. I use the term "upcoming" loosely since at the rate things are going and with the weather outside currently, it may be May 2019 before we get onto the diamonds. As you may have guessed, you are receiving this email because our records indicate you have a child registered for the Jamboree age division.
We are going to have the Imperial diamonds over by the hospital every Monday and Wednesday from 6-8pm. For the most part last year, things tended to wrap up around 7:30pm and I don't expect this year to be much different. My plan is to start on May 7th, however that might get pushed back a bit if we can't put winter to bed or if the diamonds are still partially snow covered or wet. Will keep you posted on this. As for numbers, we currently have 22 kids registered to play however I'm still hoping for and expecting a couple of last minute registrations. Ideally I would like to cap out at about 24 which would mean 8 players/team. One team will practice and the other 2 teams will have approx 1/2hr to warm up before playing a game/scrimmage until 7:30ish. I have started assembling the teams and once they are finalized, I will let you know which team your child is on, who your coach is, etc. I will send out a copy of the schedule as well once I have it finalized too.
Finally, if you haven't been there already, make sure you check out the revamped OMSA website at www.oldsminorsoftball.com. The main page is great to find recent news, upcoming events, Pistols apparel, and so much more. Just under the main banner, you will see the links for each of the age divisions where you will find practice dates/times, game schedules and results, once they become available and are posted. If you get the chance, I encourage you to take your daughter to a game or two or three, of one of the higher age levels just so they can experience and see the level they are going to be at in just a couple of short years.
This should about cover it for now. Feel free to call or email me at the information below if you have any questions. Looking forward to having another year of fun with Jamboree ball and we'll see you on the diamonds sooner than later...............hopefully!!!!
